What Is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel applies a carefully formulated solution to the skin to dissolve the outer layer of dead and damaged cells. As your skin renews, it reveals a smoother, brighter complexion, and the controlled exfoliation encourages fresh collagen.
Peels range from light, refreshing treatments with little or no downtime to stronger peels that correct deeper concerns. Your provider will choose the strength based on your skin type, goals and schedule.
What Chemical Peels Treat
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne and acne scars
- Sun damage, dark spots and melasma
- Uneven skin tone and rough texture
- Dull, tired-looking skin
The VI Peel
The VI Peel is a medical-grade peel that combines ingredients including trichloroacetic acid (TCA), retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol and vitamin C to work on several layers of the skin at once. It is formulated for all skin types and tones, with a short recovery for the results it delivers.
What to Expect
Appointments take 30 to 60 minutes. After your skin is cleansed, the peel solution is applied in layers. Most patients feel a mild tingling or warmth that fades quickly.
Over the next few days your skin will flake or peel as the old layer sheds. Light peels may cause only mild redness, while stronger peels can take up to a week to finish peeling. Avoid picking, use gentle skincare, and protect your skin with SPF while it heals.
Peels and Other Treatments
Peels pair well with facials, dermaplaning and microneedling as part of a regular skincare plan.
