What We’re Looking For During a VISIA Digital Skin Analysis

VISIA Digital Skin Analysis

A VISIA digital skin analysis is an in-depth examination of your facial characteristics. During your appointment, VISIA will scan your skin, looking at its strengths and weaknesses. During this in-depth assessment, we will compare your skin condition to others within your age demographic. This entire process enables us to help develop a more targeted treatment program for your specific needs while tracking your progress and treatment results over time.

Read on to learn what your provider will be looking for during your VISIA analysis, and what you can expect during your appointment.

How a VISIA Digital Skin Analysis Works

A VISIA digital skin analysis is a diagnostic tool that allows us to visualize and measure skin imperfections and wrinkles above and below your skin’s surface. VISIA’s multi-point positioning system and live image overlay make it easy to capture perfectly registered images. The capture module rotates smoothly around your face while simultaneously providing a comfortable experience.

The rotating camera will capture left, right, and frontal facial views, and UV lighting is used to record and measure both superficial and deeper subsurfaces within the skin.

What VISIA Can Reveal About Your Skin

UV photography records comprehensive data on the following skin conditions:

Spots

Brown or red skin spots are distinguishable by their distinct color and contrast from the rest of your skin tone. Spots can vary in shapes and sizes and are typically visible to the naked eye.

Wrinkles

Wrinkles are classified as furrows, folds, or creases in the skin. Typically a result of sun exposure or aging, wrinkles are commonly associated with a decrease in skin elasticity.

Texture

Raised or depressed areas on the skin can significantly affect the smoothness of your complexion.

Pores

Your skin is covered with circular surface openings of sweat gland ducts. Enlarged pores appear darker than the surrounding skin tone, and can be easily identified by their dark, round shape.

UV Spots

UV spots are areas beneath the skin’s surface where melanin coagulates after exposure to the sun’s harmful UV rays. Your body produces melanin when exposed to the sun as an effort to protect itself, and this leads to a display of black spots and blotches.

Brown Spots

Brown spots are small, flat dark areas on the surface of the skin. They vary in size and typically appear on areas exposed to the sun, such as the face, backs of the hands, shoulders, and arms. Brown spots are also commonly known as age spots, sunspots, or liver spots.

Red Areas

Concentrated darker red areas may be related to various skin conditions, including inflammation or spider veins. Dermatitis, or eczema, are other inflammatory skin conditions that can cause red, itchy patches of skin where inflammation has occurred.

Porphyrins

Porphyrins are bacterial excretions that can become lodged in pores and lead to the formation of acne.
