There has been a lot of open discussions in recent years when it comes to the popularity of ways you can achieve tighter skin. With today’s treatments, providers are able to offer clients a nonsurgical alternative to more invasive procedures for correcting skin laxity and improving the quality of the skin.

Here’s a breakdown of the different types of skin tightening treatments and how to determine which treatment is going to give you the results you’re looking for.

Procedures we offer at Radiance

The type of skin issue you’re facing dictates the treatment that’s right for you. Having a consultation to go over your type of skin and the specific issues you’re looking to correct will help us in creating a specialized treatment plan that may include one, or a combination of these treatments.

Home Care

The most casual approach to loose skin is treating it at home. Home care can make a big difference for those in their 20’s and 30’s just starting to notice signs of aging. Use an anti-aging moisturizer containing vitamin A, vitamin C, alpha hydroxy acid or beta hydroxy acid. Ingredients like these will help firm skin and produce superficial results. Apply the moisturizer before bed so that it can penetrate the skin and work overnight without any additional products like makeup.

Non-Invasive Treatment

Nonsurgical treatments leave the skin intact, delivering energy deep within its layers. Each different technology is able to treat different layers, so doing a combination of treatments may be recommended for best results. These treatment options provide patients with revitalization and firming of the skin.

You should consider a non-surgical skin tightening treatment if:

  • You have mild to moderate loose skin on your face, neck arms, or abdomen
  • If you have residual skin laxity after an operative procedure
  • You would like to improve in the quality of your skin
  • If you are unable, or unwilling to undergo a more invasive, surgical procedure to correct skin laxity

Non-surgical skin tightening treatments

There are three general options for non-surgical skin tightening:

  • Radiofrequency
  • Intense pulsed light treatments
  • Ultrasound treatments

Radiance Medspa wheaton offers two types of skin tightening to best deliver our patients’ ideal results. Thermage and Ultherapy can be used to treat both small and large areas of skin, firming features and stimulating collagen production.

What to expect with Thermage treatments

  • The treatment area is measured and marked
  • Your skin is cooled for comfort and safety
  • A specially designed treatment tip is placed against your skin
  • Radiofrequency energy penetrates deep into the skin’s tissue, heating the treatment areas and stimulation collagen production
  • A gentle vibration as well as cooling and heating sensations will be felt during each pulse

What to expect with Ultherapy treatments

  • The treatment area is measured and marked
  • An ultrasound gel is applied to your skin’s surface
  • A smooth handpiece is placed on your skin and an image of the tissue beneath is projected on a screen to visualize the treatment area
  • The ultrasound then emits small thermal bursts to stimulate the deep structural support layers of the skin without disturbing the skin’s surface

Surgical Treatment

Most patients don’t actually want (or need) a facelift. Results will be more extreme, but that’s not necessarily a positive thing in all cases. Facelifts can give end results that don’t look natural if not performed properly and you may end up not looking like the younger version of yourself you were hoping for.

If you’re ready to take action against aging, we’re here to help! Schedule an appointment and we’ll help you decide which treatment is best for you and your skin.
